FOCUS AREAS
1
Education & Youth
As one of our primary focuses, PBI empowerment projects aim to engage educators, students and youth in learning new skills, expose them to international standards and systems and provide them with key performance tools that will assist them in rebuilding the society and their future. It is a solid argument that relative contribution of each individual to country’s economic growth depends on their human capital – the education, knowledge, skills and competencies. In addition, the influence of education in social change, trauma healing and alternatives to conflict builds a stronger case for PBIs intervention. PBI has engaged in multiple training projects for the education community, and is working with local NGOs dedicated to child education and educational advancement in Iraq to implement new projects, training and webinars. Our volunteer experts are also working to provide mentorship programs for graduates, young men and women to yield innovative and problem solving thesis and projects. PBI vision for Education is to empower educators with proper skills to bridge the system gaps and help implement state of the art models helping to develop a modern and comprehensive approach for education.Join our Education & Youth Empowerment team and allow us to convey your expertise and knowledge to build a brighter future for Iraq. Volunteer today.

Health & Wellness
With an accumulation of neglect, deteriorating infrastructure and brain drainage over the past three decades, the healthcare community in Iraq has suffered major setbacks and is besieged to meet the demands of the population. Focused on military operations, the government is struggling to provide the services that Iraqis need and demand. The failure in a healthcare system, once seen as one of the best in the Middle East, has forced many seek medical care from NGOs, private hospitals and neighboring countries such as Turkey and Jordan. The root causes PBI aims in tackling are ones of capacity building, exchange programs for curriculum updates and advocacy programs for institutional development. On the pressing needs, PBI is working with healthcare experts and medical practitioners to build programs on PTSD diagnosis and treatment, pediatric and women health for the displaced and returnee groups, school health and local NGO support programs. Our volunteer network consists of 20% healthcare professionals willing to participate in our projects and regain the healthcare systems reputation and serve the people of Iraq once again.

PBI is committed to incubate, mentor and support civic engagement initiatives. From building the capacityof local NGOs to scale their operations and optimize resources to supporting a group of Iraqi researchers forming an independent research organization, PBIs network will be channeling their knowledge of change management and the impact of an engaged society to help Iraq restore its vibrant social fabric. PBI mission is to address the obstacles facing basic human rights, women’s rights and the democratic system in Iraq through encouragement of government-community dialogue, implementation of co-curricular activities for schools and enhancing the knowledge, skills, values and motivation of local NGOs to make the difference. We have partnered with EPIC (Education for Peace in Iraq Center) to connect Iraqi civil society organizations with skilled PBI members of the country’s vast diaspora in the United States willing to share their resources with in-country organizations. It is indeed a critical moment in Iraqi political and social development. Management
Over 60% of Iraq's population is between 15-30 years old. Which makes Iraq one of the youngest countries in the world. About 16% of Iraq's youth population is unemployed which shows a pressing need to implement youth empowerment programs. PBI aims to provide various workshops to provide skills and knowledge transfer and mentoring to unfortunate youth population.
5

Iraq's environment has suffered decades of neglect and had been the grounds for some of the worlds most devastating wars. Moreover and prior to 2003, Iraq's forests, rivers and marshlands have been systematically targeted by the former governments which had catastrophically impacted the entire wildlife in the region. We at PBI see the way to save and rebuild Iraq's environment is through the impementatio of environmentally sustainable programs and projects. Helping and protecting Iraq's fragile environment is one of PBI priorities. We are dedicated to providing all necessary resources and conducting up to date workshops that focuses on developing Iraq's environmental resources and rebuilding with an extreme environmental consciousness.
